Al Olender and James Felice
August 20 7:00 pm PDT
Doors Open: 6:30 pm$12.00
There’s nothing scarier than being honest with yourself. For singer/songwriter Al Olender, facing her fear of the truth has been a cleansing, often cathartic process that’s led to the kind of revelations she had previously thought unobtainable. On her debut full-length album Easy Crier, the Upstate New York based artist asks: what happens if we vow to never tell a lie, ever again? Charting the daunting territories of staring your demons right in the face and prodding at the ugly parts of your reflection, Olender pieces together her most vulnerable moments to produce a celebratory and beautiful rumination on grief, and reminds us of the power that comes in really getting to know yourself.
Equipped with a singular trembling voice, and known for his own brand of powerful piano and raucous accordion melodies, James Felice has cemented his place amongst the newest generation of troubadours emerging from the Catskill Mountains. With his upcoming debut record (to be announced soon), the founding member of The Felice Brothers furnishes melodic, symphonic stories woven through soundscapes captured in the halls of one of the most historic churches in Felice’s hometown of Kingston, NY. Felice is a man of his community, and his songs perfectly demonstrate the inherent benefits of welcoming a wide circle into his creative process. Having toured the country for the better part of the last two decades, Felice always comes back to what he knows best: a familiar place, the welcome song of a hometown hero, and an invitation for you to listen and sing along.
