Ari Tibi, Trust Experiment & Queer Cafe
July 31 7:00 pm PDT
Doors Open: 6:30pm$10
Queer Café is a celebration of the talent the LGBTQIA+ community brings to Los Angeles. A space for all genders and genres, Queer Café showcases a mix of curated artists and a sign up list; whether you’re homegrown or tour bound. Hosted by the legendary Hotel Café and LA local Ari Tibi, it is hands down the best (and possibly first) all queer open mic this side of Hollywood has ever seen.
“Soul, it will be rusty til you sleep; skin will be dry until you finally weep.”
Inspired by nature and their artistic familial roots, Ari Tibi’s music is composed of personal stories and explorations of the mind. Their lyrics study hope, freedom, and the pressures we face as human beings to be our fiercest selves. Ari delivers distinctive low tones, catchy melodies, and big anthemic chants alongside an acoustic rawness that brings us back to the storytellers of the 60s.
Writing their own music since before the age of ten, Ari is a self-taught multi-instrumentalist with a background in blues, rock and folk. The eclectic Los Angeles native most recently formed a folk-pop female trio called Luci. Three part harmonies define all of their original material, and twangy blues meet a modern twist when they play. In 2019 they opened for Pat Benetar on her national tour, and have shared stages with Raelynn Nelson, Justin Moore, Raeylnn, Tyler Farr and more.
Trust experiment is a new collaboration between vocalist and lyricist Erin McGuire, and multi-instrumentalist and producer Taylor Blake. The duo connected on instagram during the pandemic and quickly determined their talents to be complimentary. Trust experiment takes elements of neo-soul, gospel, and pop, and strings them together with thought provoking lyrics about love, loss, heartache, and self empowerment. They’re currently working on releasing their first single, ‘The love I’ve found.’
