Deb Morrison Album Release Show
October 22, 2022 7:00 pm PDT
Second Stage
Doors Open: 6:30 pm
$10.00Deb Morrison is a Singer-Songwriter and Bass Player based in California. Her solo debut album, The North Fork (Blackbird Record Label) is a melting-pot of American roots music, stocked with songs that blur the boundaries between alt-country, Americana, and roadhouse rock & roll.
Morrison filters her songwriting through a prism of woozy West Coast sunshine, rolling hillsides, and ghost-town desert landscapes mixing cinematic storytelling and smoky, sultry delivery in what has already earned comparisons to Neko Case, Lydia Loveless and Lilly Hiatt.
Celebrating the recent release of three singles, four videos and an album, Morrison and her band MoCo (with special guests) are excited to perform at The Hotel Cafe for their official Album Release Show!
“Lovely and spellbinding album…’The North Fork’ is an incredible cocktail of different music genres—Americana, rock and roll and alt country.” ~ Vents Magazine
“If there was ever a video that so rightfully placed the aura, meaning, and soul of a composition into video form, it has to be that of Deb Morrison’s solicitous and majestic new tune ‘Salton Sea.’ Morrison’s vibrant Americana rustic-tinged vocals carry the tune with a valiant cinematographic flair reminiscent of Lydia Loveless and Lilly Hiatt.” ~ Glide Magazine
“Excellent new single from singer-songwriter Deb Morrison. ‘The North Fork’ has an engaging rhythmic groove and melodic guitar, over which Morrison’s tuneful voice is delivered with wistful character.” ~ Americana UK
Hailing from the quiet, wooded, mountain towns of New England, Nathan Jacques is a singer/songwriter now based in Los Angeles, CA. Nathan’s music can be pinned as Americana, with threads of country, folk, and vintage rock and roll deeply woven across sprawling cinematic soundscapes that gleam with a western edge.
Rather than retreading the well-worn path of autobiographical storytelling, Nathan opts for dramatic, fictional characters and preternatural happenings that lay bare the human truths of love, loss and redemption.
Following the release of his 2021 debut record Loud Mind, and recently back from a month long tour across the US with his freshly assembled band, Jacques has been carving out a name and place for himself locally by bringing his new sound to stages across Los Angeles. “The record and the live show should not be identical,” says Jacques, “the live show should be a special event, a certain feeling that you can’t get on the record. We take the elements from the record and dial it all up in some fresh or varied ways.”
Jacques is currently in the studio working on the follow-up record to Loud Mind.
