JoDavi & Casey Lipka

August 2 7:00 pm PDT

Second Stage

Doors Open: 6:30 pm

Often referred to as “Mr. Maestro,” JoDavi fuses his soulful roots with his passion and schooling in orchestration to create what many call “Cinema-Soul;” a sound that likens to Earth Wind and Fire, the 5th Dimension, your favorite movie soundtrack, and his background in gospel, RnB, reggae, and funk.

As a singer-songwriter, JoDavi has opened for grammy award winning artists India Arie, and Anthony Hamilton. He has also backed renowned singer Alex Isley, and has shared stages with Jeremy Passion. As far as his own work goes, JoDavi has released over a dozen albums and singles, including
his latest full length album, Zion.

As a composer/arranger, JoDavi has arranged for many artists including critically acclaimed Sy Smith, Aubrey Logan, sad alex, and many more. He has also arranged for orchestras such as the Seattle Symphony, the Augusta Symphony, and the Boston Pops.

Casey Lipka
As a performer, JoDavi has traversed the globe performing everywhere from California to New York to Mexico, Israel, and even South Africa. His hard hitting rhythms, thoughtful lyrics, and sweeping orchestral compositions know no boundaries.

Based in Los Angeles, CA, Casey Lipka is an in demand bassist, vocalist and composer. She is one third of the folk trio Dear Darling, was a founding member of Cave Women, a band whose music defied categorization, toured with CAKE as their bassist, has composed music for the ballet dancers & museum installations, fronted an 18 piece Motown Orchestra performing Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell music, and has been a driving force behind too many other projects to list.

Lipka is currently focusing on her own music, writing and recording it. Her aim is always to keep it creatively out of the box and to make it meaningful, sparking, she hopes, “a conversation of some sort.” Her music is sometimes free-floating and ethereal, sometimes earthy and soulful, but whatever it is, she keeps it REAL. Mainly, she says, it’s about reaching people. Her music is either jazz-pop, or pop-jazz, you’ll have to decide for yourselves.
