Kate Davis released her indie rock debut Trophy at the end of 2019. The album, rightfully, was a meditation on themes like identity, self-worth, and loss. Her complex, unexpected song writing held a certain magic, leading her to co-write Sharon Van Etten’s nostalgic rock hit “Seventeen.”
The music of Daniel Johnston had always resonated with her, and the introspection of his 1984 album Retired Boxer inspired a project to reimagine the entire album recontextualized for 2020. The result was Strange Boy, released in partnership with The Hi How Are You Project.
She is currently working on her second solo album.
