Kate Earl left home with a military surplus jacket and 2 cardboard boxes, sights on Hollywood right out of high school from her families rural gas station in Alaska. Vocals grown soulful in church, set loose in her hometown Hells Angel’s bar and refined by her father’s Billie Holiday records. Kate was discovered unexpectedly when a van backed into her while she was walking while attending college for music and philosophy in Santa Barbara. Uninjured, Kate requested a ride to work for being “hit” by her neighbor. When the driver explained the radio was broken, Kate sang originals she had been writing on the ride. The motorist asked if Kate had a demo, which happened to be in her backpack. Kate’s demo was handed to the president of a WB sub label.
At 19, Kate Earl’s first record deal was offered on the spot over a grand piano she was asked to play at a party in Malibu about a week following the lucky van incident. After a WB joint with Tony Berg and Jon Brion, Kate’s career journeyed through a pop release for Tommy Mottola and Universal an Americana album with Jesse Harris (Norah Jones) and Blake Mills (Alabama Shakes) for Sony and years abroad with BMG UK as well as co-producing a self release along side , Gary Noble and mixed by Tchad Blake the engineers behind greats including Amy Winehouse, The Black Keys, Ray LaMontagne and The White Stripes This project was championed by the London BBC, a song I Love You ending up as Record of the week amount other career accolades such as single of the week for US and UK ITunes and Billboard Charts Hot 100. Kate has followed her bliss to base out of Nashville, Tennessee. Coming full circle, Kate has a new soundscape of music written and recorded back home at the gas station in Alaska to be unveiled now. Playing Jones Beach Arena to Royal Albert Hall to the acoustic stage at Glastonbury headlined by Ed Sheeran, it all began with Kate’s first shows ever taking place at Hotel Cafe…
