Matt Basile, Grand Canyon and Wes Hutchinson

February 10 7:00 pm PST

Second Stage

Doors Open: 6:30 pm

Matt Basile is a singer and songwriter based in New York City.
With his distinctive bass-baritone, insightful lyrics, and a repertoire of familiar favorites and sleeper classics, each performance is an engaging look at the history of American music and songs.

Had Stevie Nicks ditched Fleetwood Mac and joined Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers
circa Damn the Torpedoes, this heartland-rock anthem might’ve found a home
on Side A, sandwiched between “Even the Losers” and “Shadow of a Doubt.”
A flashback to the glory days of Seventies pop-rock, “Standing in the Shadows”
lights up with coed harmonies, electric-guitar jangle and California cool.”
– Rolling Stone

In an era of computer-made, beat-driven music, Grand Canyon is the antithesis of modern music. However, by focusing on musicianship and timeless songwriting, and drawing on the inspiration of the classic sounds and arrangements of the 70s, it is the kind of music that will be wafting through the canyons for a long time.

The Los Angeles based rock and roll band followed up their self-recorded debut album, Le Grand Cañon with a five song EP, “Yesterday’s News” on Aug 2nd, 2019. A set of songs that the LA Times said, “seems to run on rocket fuel, it showcases a band that soars with confidence, equally adept at expressing Saturday night fury and Sunday morning reflection.”

The Canyon retreated into the caves of LA throughout the 2020-21 pandemic and began recording a new phase Grand Canyon album, due out in early 2022.

Through collaboration with a number of songwriters, artists, and producers, original compositions by Wes have made it to the screens of movies and television of such shows as HBO’s ‘Shameless’, Nickelodeon ‘Bubble Guppies’, General Mills ‘Yoplaitime’ Theme Song, national commercials for both John Deere and Traeger Grills in 2021, TNT’s ‘Animal Kingdom’, MTV’s The Real World: Brooklyn, CW’s ‘Frequency’, ‘Gossip Girl’, ‘Life Unexpected’ and ‘Melrose Place’, MTV’s ‘Laguna Beach’, NBC’s ‘The Biggest Loser’, ‘Windfall’, and Fox’s ‘Roswell’, the CBS/Lionsgate movie “Love The Coopers’, IFC’s movie ‘Peace, Love, and Misunderstanding, Animal Planet’s ‘Jockeys’, ABC ‘General Hospital’, CBS’ ‘The Young and The Restless’ and ‘Clubhouse’, ‘Boston Public’, and ‘Party of Five’ DVD.

Wes had the honor to sing harmony with Norah Jones and Mavis Staples on their release ‘I’ll Be Gone’ which came out at the end of 2019. The song was up for a Grammy for ‘Best Roots Music Performance’ in 2021 but lost to legend John Prine.
