Raised in the Swannanoa Valley of Western North Carolina, Reed Turchi taught himself guitar while editing recordings of master slide-guitarist “Mississippi” Fred McDowell. After years spent producing albums in North Mississippi & developing his own musical style, Turchi began touring nationally and internationally.
Now based in Nashville, Turchi is on the road supporting his new albums I’ve Chosen Love, featured in Rolling Stone, and Creosote Flats, a Sonoran-desert inspired collaboration with photographer Mark Klett.
Along with his performance and production credits, Turchi has continued to explore interdisciplinary collaborations including music-tasting dinners with Chef Sean Brock, poetry and music recording with MacArthur Grant Winning poet Heather McHugh, and scoring poet Reginald Dwayne Bett’s one-man theatre show.
His current “Kudzu Trio” performance ensemble showcases his unique blend of styles and influences, using roots music to grow new branches.
