In 2016, the Museo de las Artes (MUSA) in Guadalajara, recognized his thirty-five-year career as visual artist and political cartoonist, with the exhibit ARTNACÓ. https://vimeo.com/142079060
His latest art show – General Eclectic – took place in Mexico City at Traeger-Pinto Gallery in 2019.
Arau, seen by many as the father (grandfather?) of rock en español, formed his now legendary rock band, Botellita de Jerez in 1983.
The group opened Rockotitlan, the club that birthed the likes of Caifanes, Café Tacuba, Maldita Vecindad, among many. Released in 2010, he directed the mockumentary, Naco Es Chido: The story of Botellita de Jerez, more or less, based on the real facts. https://vimeo.com/89858288 Password: nakitsch
