The Greatest Lovers
Like a romcom
these two lovers
probably walked right passed
each other many times.
They both came to LA in the
mid 80’s
looking for fame and fortune,
following their dreams,
playing in various bands thru the years. A chance meeting turned into a beautiful collaboration of life and music.
The Greatest Lovers …Soulful…Bold…Licorice Honey voices…captivate and bring you into love, vulnerability, and electricity.
There’s a soulfulness that invites the listener to go along on a journey and happily get lost in the sweet, sexy sounds of this beautiful duo.
The Greatest Lovers are John Arthur Bigham and Christine Rosander. John grew up in Chicago and Atlanta. Christine is a Northern California country girl. Though from different worlds they both inherited a deep love and knowledge of music. John with Blues, Soul and Rock and Christine with classical piano, singing in Church and then falling in love with Jazz in college.
When John came to LA he landed his first tour with with El Debarge. An introduction to Miles Davis led to being assigned by Tommy Lipuma “former VP of Warner bros” to work with Jeff Lorber writing songs for Miles. Which led to touring with the Miles Davis band. Meeting drummer Phillip Fisher brought John to playing guitar and touring and writing with legendary Los Angeles band Fishbone. And later a great run and 7 albums to date with his own band, The Soul of John Black.
When Christine came to LA she studied voice, piano and jazz, eventually becoming the first vocalist to receive a master’s degree in jazz studies from USC. Her drive and inspiration started before she was born, with her mother, a piano teacher and singer, pregnant with her when she was a voice major in college. Christine’s love of music is something she’s practiced her entire life, playing in small clubs to listening rooms. She toured with the award-winning a cappella group Terra Nova and she sang jazz vocals with her own solo project, which naturally led her to start writing her own original songs. She wrote and produced her own Americana music with 2 albums to her credit. Christine also has a unique gift as a teacher. She is a member of Music Teacher’s Association of California, on the Voice Faculty at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts and is a Steinway Educational Partner.
