TRISHES, Jake Hays & L E A

October 25, 2021 7:00 pm PDT

Main Stage

Doors Open: 6:30 pm

Multidisciplinary artist TRISHES challenges the confines of art and constructs of self by using live looping, visual art and spoken word to delve into our psyches. Her undeniably original songwriting, fleshed out by hip-hop beats and pop hooks, examines human struggle through an anthropological lens to prompt listeners on a journey of self-inquiry.

As a musician, the Trinidadian-American has been featured on NPR, Billboard, MTV India, and VH1 India; and she has performed internationally, playing festivals like SXSW, CMW, Women’s Redrock Festival, Tune In Tel Aviv, Linda Perry’s Rock N Relief, Pyramid Yoga Festival and more. Her visual art has been part of Adidas “Nite Jogger” campaign and she has been nominated for Best Music Video at the South Asian Film Festival two years in a row, including one nomination for her directorial debut on her music video “Gaslight.”

Born and raised in southern California, Jake Hays is singer, songwriter, music producer, actor, multi-instrumentalist, and director. He discovered a love for music at age thirteen, and became professionally touring at the age of nineteen. Hays has written songs with Matt Sorum (Guns N’Roses, Velvet Revolver), Grammy Award-winner Holly Knight (Aerosmith, Pat Benatar) and Cherie Currie (The Runaways) to name a few. Hays signed with BMG/Vagrant Records in 2015 with his project Maudlin Strangers, and toured the US and Canada alongside acts like Bad Suns, LANY and Cold War Kids. Along with a love for music, Hays discovered a love for acting, and in 2016, he began to study the Meisner-technique at Playhouse West in North Hollywood. He later attended the acclaimed improv schools The Groundlings and Upright Citizens Brigade. In 2018, while Hays was away in Texas filming an indie 80s-inspired action movie titled Night Run, he lost his home and recording studio in the Woolsey Fire. Eventually, he rebuilt a small recording setup and rented a studio lockout in Burbank, which became his musical hideout. There, he began writing and recording as many songs as possible, including the debut single “Sleep Talk”, which amassed over a million streams online. Of his 2020 single “Sober,” American Songwriter raved, “with each note, we want the next.” During the COVID-19 pandemic, Hays booked and filmed his first theatrical role as real-life FBI agent Robert Ressler in the thriller, Ted Bundy: American Boogeyman alongside Chad Michael Murray, Holland Roden, and horror-icon Lin Shaye.

Extroverted Noise. A solid blend between bold and free-spirit, the Los Angeles-based Alt-Pop artist, L E A, meets us somewhere in the middle with her vibrant sound. Some might call her the love child of Katy Perry & P!nk. Her writing style stems from her Jersey Pop Punk roots while her instrumentation beams from being an LA Devotee. L E A considers her sound colorful, extroverted, aggressive, and blunt. Having a heavy musical background, lower timbre rock vocals, and an obsession with the colorful world around her, L E A is sure to stand out in a crowd and make her presence known. After all, she is a Leo.
