Wyatt Pike & Theo Kandel
May 31 9:00 pm PDT
Doors Open: 8:30 pm$15
21-year-old Utahan, Wyatt Pike, delights audiences by combining acoustic and common pop elements into his own unique style. Although he cites influential artists including Anders Osborne, Andy Shauf, and Phoebe Bridgers for his sound, his mastery of storytelling makes him a standout on his own.
While Wyatt has been performing live for over 7 years, it wasn’t until 2019 that he committed fully to his passion, withdrawing from business school days before his scheduled departure. During his gap year Wyatt explored numerous facets of the music entertainment industry volunteering as a radio DJ, interning for Park City’s Mountain Town Music and auditioning for and earning acceptance to Berklee College of Music. Additionally he released his debut EP ‘Brand New Boy’.
On ‘Brand New Boy’, Wyatt captures snapshots of his personal experiences in high school brilliantly articulating common themes of identity, empathy and personal loss. His stories struck a chord worldwide, his growing popularity even capturing the attention of producers for the 4th season of American Idol.
The release of his most recent single, ‘Diana’, an intimate retrospective of surmounting heartbreak, coincided with his steady rise on American Idol. His obvious talent, daring song choices and authentic nature propelled him to the show’s ‘Top 16’. He devastated audiences when he unexpectedly withdrew from the competition for personal reasons. His first comment on his departure echoed Luke Bryan’s prediction that he was going to “be able to do music for the rest of his life” stating simply “I had to leave the @AmercianIdol competition for personal reason but am so thankful I get to play music for the rest of my life.”
True to his promise of “more musical things soon” Wyatt has been living, writing and recording new music in Los Angeles, CA having moved there in September after a successful summer of shows across the United States.
His sophomore album is slated for release in early 2022 and will be followed by a tour. Stay tuned for music release and tour locations/dates.
With over 115k followers across his social media platforms and 5M worldwide streams, Los Angeles-based alternative pop singer-songwriter Theo Kandel is fresh off the release of his new concept EP Spin Cycle. Growing up in New York City, he established a basis in folk songwriting that he strengthened in Nashville during and after college, honing his craft into something a bit more mainstream. The six-song collection is equally vulnerable as it is highly unique. The songs are musically complex, layered, and blend a variety of instrumentation that creates a special alchemy; a musical fingerprint that directly identifies Kandel.
FLAUNT raved, “candid, accessible and uninhibited lyricism outline alternative pop singer-songwriter Theo Kandel’s inspired Spin Cycle EP…‘i don’t wanna think about that’ is an infectious and musically cinematic single.” Ones To Watch recently echoed praise saying, “Theo Kandel is as honest and uninhibited as ever…” Journalist Caitlin Rambling at Art In Your World said, “The definition of Kandel should include the sound of generations lost in between. His music is a collection of vibes without their own identity, those too old to identify with generation z and those too young to fully understand millennials. Perhaps we can now refer to them as the Kandel generation or sad boi collective.”
Recent performances included sold out shows at New York City’s historic Mercury Lounge, Washington DC’s Pearl Street Warehouse, Boston’s Obrien’s Pub, Los Angeles’s The Mint, and a support slot for KT Tunstall at Spring Hill Arts Gathering. Theo recently released the first single Half As Cool from his forthcoming project What if it all works out in the end?
