Fleece Kawasaki

Fleece Kawasaki is the music of Kiazi Halpern, an NYC born and raised singer-songwriter who for the last seven years has made LA his home. Originally picking up guitar at fifteen as a vehicle to write his own songs, he eventually went on to become a prolific songwriter in his own right, having written hundreds of songs as a teen alone. Despite his own ambitions he went on to play in many bands with his friends usually in a more supporting role, that by his early twenties fell apart. In a dejected state he began performing his own songs and covers in public spaces leading to two discoveries, one: that he could make enough money to pursue his dreams via busking, and two: that he was ready to start over in California, and take his ambitions into his own hands. Since then he’s gone on to build a name in LA for himself as both a busker and artist, initially as part of the trio Fleece Jones who would perform their music to delighted passengers on the LA Metro, and also with his own project culminating in the 2020 release of ‘The Desert Flower EP’ (prod. by Layne Smith of glass beach). In November of 2021 Fleece Kawasaki had their debut as a band at a sold-out The Roxy Theatre opening for glass beach. While the lineup has since evolved many times, they’ve gone on to open for acts like Chase Petra, Hotel Mira, She Wants Revenge, and most recently having toured the country playing sold-out theatres opening for glass beach and Arcadia Grey.

His latest single ‘I Want More’ (prod. by Emerson Harris of The Toxhards) was featured on KCRW DJ Jason Kramer’s Sunday Morning Playlist, and he is hard at work finishing his passion project, the debut Fleece Kawasaki album ‘Fake Frowns From Happy People’
