Both Brain presents: B-Side with Mild Monk, Torna Love, Roses and Roses, and Jeena (hosted by Juju B. Goode)

February 17 7:00 pm PST

Second Stage

Doors Open: 6:30

$15

B-Side is a monthly music showcase celebrating songwriters and artists from diverse backgrounds. Presented by Both Brain Records and hosted by Juju B. Goode, the series spotlights rising talent in a stripped-down, unplugged, storytelling-driven format with a “B-Side” spirit of intimacy, artistry, experimentation, and alternative depth.

This February, we have a wonderful lineup of artists from all different styles and backgrounds: the truly special Mild Monk, a lo-fi bedroom pop producer turned alternative indie singer-songwriter from the Bay Area; Torna Love from Ecuador, who moved to LA last year to pursue his journey with a mission of combining his roots and American pop; Roses and Roses, who exudes boundless beauty and mystery through her voice and aura; and a next-gen indie artist Jeena, who you don’t wanna miss. Everyone will be playing a 20-minute set in a stripped-down format with acoustic guitar. And of course, I will be hosting the night, kicking it off with a couple of songs from my latest EP. B-sure to come out and join the community! – JBG

Mild Monk
Mild Monk is the alias of singer-songwriter and producer Henry Stein. Born in China, raised in Connecticut, and transplanted to California, like the places he’s lived, Mild Monk’s music reflects a wide variety of influences from Soul, R&B, Funk, to Jazz. As an unformally trained musician who started his journey not just in learning music, but in producing and writing songs, over the span of a decade, he’s now evolved every aspect of his music, song by song, and now operates a full blown music studio where he spends most of his time working at his craft. Mild Monk’s music is available everywhere for streaming. Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mildmonkmusic

Torna Love
Torna Love is a musician from Ecuador, a country in the middle of the world. Son of a Cuban father and a half-Ecuadorian, half-Colombian mother, Torna Love shows in his music the cultural mix of South America while translating it to the American public. Currently residing in Los Angeles, Torna Love writes, records, and produces his own music. This allows him to create a very distinctive sound that breaks the monotony of today’s pop charts.

In his music, you can find traditional South American genres like Tango, Son, Cumbia, and Pasillo, mixed with American Pop, Trap, and R&B. All of this written in English and Spanish, so it can be enjoyed by the multicultural population of big U.S.A. cities. Torna Love is also “The Viceroy”, the name and Alter Ego of his new EP. This elegant and classical figure brings to us the sensuality, spice, and eroticism of the Latino culture. Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/torna.love/

Roses and Roses
Crystal Rose leads the Los Angeles-based project Roses and Roses. Defined by soulful sounds that transcend genre boundaries, the outfit effortlessly defies easy classification, with influences ranging from ’90s alt to bossa nova, 60s folk to early 2000s R&B.  Crystal Rose states that she’s inspired by “tingly and warm sounds informed by growing up on the whims of a tape player and morning MTV”. Crystal’s sensitivity imbues each song with an aura of earth and mystery.

She began performing in cover bands at a young age, studied jazz at The New School, and has been writing and performing in various capacities throughout her life. The project’s name, Roses and Roses, is inspired by the song, “And Roses and Roses,” famously covered by Astrud Gilberto in 1965. Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/_roses_and_roses__/

Jeena
Jeena is a Los Angeles-based indie pop and rock artist blending cinematic production with intimate storytelling. Her early experiences as an actor shape her music, bringing a visual, narrative-driven sensibility to songs about identity, growing up, and letting go.

Her debut EP “For What It’s Worth” was released in August 2025, led by Flourish which earned features on Spotify’s Fresh Finds and VEVO Next-Gen Pop. Following her sold-out first headline show in Los Angeles, Jeena is currently developing her second EP, continuing to shape a sound that feels cinematic, honest, and unmistakably her own. Juju B. Goode (Host)
Juju B. Goode is an indie singer-songwriter and producer reimagining Korean nostalgia through American grit. From a debut project (now the bedroom-pop classic) Future Boy to his latest folk project Getaway, Juju blends bilingual lyrics and nostalgic feels into stories and songs that take you to disco nights, open roads, and maybe even somewhere within, fusing genres like city pop, classic Korean rock, Americana, and more. With a featured track on the Netflix show XO, Kitty and a DIY West Coast tour, Juju continues to build a community of cross-cultural audiences and diaspora all over the world.
