Greg Laswell first played Hotel Cafe in 2005. After moving from San Diego into his Alto Nido apartment just a few blocks away in 2007, the room quickly became a second home — a place where he would test out many of the songs that would eventually become his sophomore record, Three Flights from Alto Nido. In the years that followed, Laswell became a regular at the club, and his music has appeared in nearly 60 television shows and films.
After stepping away from music for the last seven years, Laswell returns with a new album, I’m So Happy That You and I Are Alive at the Same Time, due out later this year. His June 12 show at Hotel Cafe marks both a return to the stage and a full-circle moment before the beloved venue closes its doors.
