Jess Meilman moved from New York to Los Angeles, determined to bring the songs in her voice memos to life. Five years later, with a sync placement on Apple TV’s hit series Shrinking, over a million streams across DSPs, and a branding partnership with Johnnie Walker and Gotham FC centered on women’s empowerment in a traditionally male-dominated industry, she’s done more than bring those songs to life – she’s carved out a sound entirely her own.
On stage, Meilman delivers performances that are intimate, electrifying, and full of heart – moments where she can truly be present and connect with others, making it all worth it. She performed as a featured background vocalist for Laura Marano and Suki Waterhouse, and has appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Kelly Clarkson Show, Amazon Music, and at iconic venues including The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles and Brooklyn Paramount. Most recently, she brought her songs to life at SXSW in Austin with JBL, where she further amplified their message that artists are made to be heard. Meilman incorporates dance and movement into every performance, making it a family affair as her sister choreographs and dances with her for select songs.
American Songwriter named her a Semi-Finalist in its Song Contest. She was also the U.S. winner of the Martin Garrix & JBL Music Academy and a Top 16 finalist in Rolling Stone’s America’s Next Top Hitmaker competition, while Catrice Cosmetics and Essence Makeup featured her music in their brand campaigns.
Although Meilman’s music is best qualified as indie pop, in truth it sits at the center of a three-part Venn diagram: indie-pop production, soulful R&B-inspired vocals, and sensitive, self-reflective lyrics. Think thoughtful daughter with a New York attitude. In other words, Meilman has a sharp sense for genre-blending, an intuitive touch that allows her to build sonic spaces that feel intimate yet expansive: emotionally raw, quietly confident, and unmistakably her own.
“Creativity without force creates intuitive magic,” Meilman says of her process — a philosophy she’s carried with her since childhood, when she spent hours writing in her family’s piano room in New York. With new music arriving throughout 2026, Jess Meilman continues to transform personal moments into cinematic, emotionally resonant pop that makes you feel seen and heard and every live show is a place where that magic comes alive.
