Lucy Clearwater & Eli Pafumi as ’The Magi’ by Helen R. Murray (feat. Lila Forde) – A Musical Staged Reading

February 27 7:00 pm PST

Main Stage

Doors Open: 6:30

$15

Lucy Clearwater and Eli Pafumi make their LA acting debut performing a musical staged reading of The Magi by Helen R. Murray, featuring an opening act from singer-songwriter Lila Forde. Murray and Pafumi are a mother / son writing duo who penned this meta-concert play over a decade ago.

The musical follows Nix and Jude who have been on the road as The Magi for eight years — and have shared nearly all of that time together, falling in love. Now, both the band and the couple find themselves at a breaking point. The Magi peels back the curtain on the sacrifices we make for those we deeply cherish. Equal parts festive concert, tender love story, and deliciously awkward moments — get ready for an evening as real as it is heartwarming.

Born in a bathtub in a cookie factory in California, Lucy Clearwater is an acoustic folk/Americana singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and nature-loving old soul with a background in classical violin. Drawing inspiration from the artists she grew up listening to such as Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, and Lucinda Williams, she spent most of 2024 touring internationally, and sharing the stage with artists like John Craigie, Madison Cunningham, Victoria Canal, Philine Sonny, and Luca Fogale to name a few. Her heartfelt, vulnerable songwriting and rich acoustic sound resonate deeply. With three singles from her debut LP already released, Clearwater is steadily inching towards releasing her full album, produced by Grammy award winner Tyler Chester.

Eli Pafumi is a Los Angeles based songwriter, producer, composer, and teacher who’s been on a hunt for the groove since childhood. Schooled in classic song-craft, raised on rock-n-roll and inspired by the roar of great cinematic scores, Eli has become a unique voice in our creative landscape, poised to move to the next level.

As an accompanying artist, Eli has played with the likes of The Polyphonic Spree, Rozzi and Zach Day in addition to his own sibling-band RitaRita whose debut record Savta’s Garden released in 2019. Pafumi’s debut full-length solo record Infancy in Everything released in November 2024 followed by the companion piece/live EP If Miles Could Talk exactly one year later.

With a voice like honey and an “Americana soul” sound steeped in old-school jazz, R&B, and folk traditions, the Seattle-born singer/songwriter Lila Forde carries the past into the present with refreshing ease. She does just that on her debut album VESSEL, a confident and cathartic coming-of-age record that captures the full spectrum of her artistry – from its roots in improvisation and harmony, to its emotional depth and genre-spanning warmth.
