R E L

September 6 9:30 pm PDT

Second Stage

Doors Open: 8:30

$15

R E L is an independent singer-songwriter and the creator of evocapop—a genre she coined to describe her signature blend of emotional storytelling and lush, genre-bending pop. With over 30 million plays across platforms, her music has been described as “spellbinding,” “hypnotic,” and “evocative” by publications including Grimy Goods, Atwood Magazine, EARMILK, Ladygunn, Wonderland, and The Line of Best Fit.

Her songs have been featured on MTV Iggy, Cyberpunk 2077 (including the fan-favorite “Night City”), and in film and TV placements such as Isabel’s Garden. She’s performed at showcases like Chris Douridas’ School Night at Bardot, Balcony TV, BMI Acoustic Lounge, and We Found New Music, and her music has been played on KCRW, KX93.5, WMBR, JAM FM, and Fritz Radio.

A Chicago native turned Los Angeles artist, R E L has headlined and supported acts at venues including The Echo, Moroccan Lounge, Resident, Hotel Cafe, The Peppermint Club, Rockwood Music Hall, and Zebulon, as well as at festivals like Echo Park Rising and Los Angeles Times Eat See Hear Fest. She has collaborated with producers and artists including Rhye, Robot Koch, Gustavo Bertoni, Jon Joseph, and Jynjo.

Known for her versatile, globally ambiguous look and ethereal yet grounded aesthetic, R E L’s artistry spans music, visual storytelling, and immersive performance. Her sophomore album EVOCAPOP Side B arrives this year, featuring singles like “Ex Boyfriend Jeans” and “Robot,” alongside her upcoming projects including a Cyberpunk inspired EP. Her work invites listeners into an intimate, layered world—choosing awe, love, and humanity even in moments of emotional overwhelm.

“Robot” is the fifth single from R E L’s upcoming album EVOCAPOP Side B — a track that balances emotional intimacy with a grittier, electronic edge. Written in the aftermath of a breakup where her partner shut off his emotions like a switch, Robot explores the tension between wanting to escape the weight of feeling and choosing to stay human. The song’s pulsing synths, moody bass lines, and layered vocals mirror that push-pull — mechanical detachment versus raw vulnerability. At its core, Robot is about resisting numbness in a world where it’s tempting to turn off your heart. In a world of exponentially-present AI, R E L chooses humanity.
