Queer indie pop artist Sloan Golden takes things personally. As a child she was often told that she was too sensitive, but as an adult she fashioned it into a gift. Growing up in the suburbs of New Jersey, Golden had a lot of big feelings that she carried with her between her mother’s house that was filled to the brim with grief, and her father’s house that left her anxiety ridden. Over the course of her high school and college years Golden grew up, but with that came harrowing experiences related to her mental health, personal relationships, and learning how to accept herself and the world around her. It was during this time that Golden turned to songwriting, though she was initially discouraged as she was told by a professor to scrap the first song she ever wrote. However, eight years and many songs later she’s crafted her life into musical retellings that she’s proud to share. With the release of her first few singles “Parking Lot,” “Dandelion,” and “Corner of My Eye” and the announcement of her debut EP Long Conversations, arriving September 25th, Golden is finally ready to start this new chapter and promises that this is only the beginning.
