Harvey Brittain is a 23-year-old singer, songwriter, and producer whose sound bridges jazz-kid instincts with Britpop nostalgia and modern indie-pop flair. Originally from Preston, a small city in the north of England, Brittain has now started releasing his music on indie label, Slumbo Labs – a turning point in a journey that’s anything but ordinary.
Harvey first sat at a piano at age four, inspired by his dad – a TV presenter-turned-cop – who played piano and guitar around the house. Though he struggled with reading music, his natural ear allowed him to mimic complex melodies after just one listen. Drawn to jazz legends like Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, and Oscar Peterson, alongside contemporary influences like Jamie Cullum, he began writing and producing music from his bedroom by age ten.

At 15, Harvey was scouted by a major British TV talent show, where he performed at Wembley Arena and the London Palladium in front of a panel that included Robbie Williams and Louis Tomlinson. Though he turned down the show’s full run, a piece of advice from Williams stuck: “Go to uni, get hammered, live a little, and write about real shit.” So he did exactly that.

At 18, Harvey auditioned for Berklee College of Music, believing it was out of reach due to cost. Against the odds, he earned a half scholarship – and thanks to a serendipitous encounter, the rest was covered by author Lee Child (creator of Jack Reacher), who offered to fund the shortfall after hearing Harvey’s demos. With the deal sealed by a simple promise to “pay it forward and not be a goody asshole,” Harvey moved to the U.S. and began finding his voice.

Since then, Harvey has been steadily releasing music every six weeks, building a small but mighty fanbase through TikTok, Instagram, and a series of sold-out headline shows in London, New York, and most recently, Los Angeles at Hotel Café. He also opened for Mckenna Grace’s sold-out debut show at Baby’s All Right in NYC. Spotify has championed his recent releases across flagship playlists like New Music Friday UK, All New Pop, and Fresh Finds, while BBC Radio 1’s Mollie King discovered one of his songs on a playlist and has since been spinning his tracks in the UK.

In June 2025, Harvey dropped his debut project, my heart keeps score mixtape. More raw and emotional than polished, the eight-track mixtape is a deeply personal collection charting his evolution – from playing pub gigs in Preston to finding his footing in the chaos of LA. Featuring collaborations with acclaimed producers Alex Beitzke (James Arthur’s “Say You Won’t Let Go”) and Robopop aka Dan Omelio (Lana Del Rey, Maroon 5), the mixtape is a vibrant coming-of-age soundtrack, full of heartache, hope, and sonic warmth.

Since then, Harvey released “all in” a collaboration with Salem Ilese (Mad at Disney), marking his first official feature. The single quickly gained traction online and on streaming platforms, introducing him to a wider audience in both the UK and U.S.
Live performances have also become a central part of his growth: Harvey’s headline shows this year in Los Angeles, New York, and London have sold out, and he opened for Mckenna Grace’s debut show last year at Baby’s All Right, NYC, to another sold-out crowd.

With new releases planned through 2025–2026, Harvey Brittain is solidifying his position as a rising UK export in alternative pop, blending cinematic songwriting, infectious melodies, and a growing reputation as a must-see performer.
