Hyperbella with OCTOBR, and Elyp

January 17 9:00 pm PST

Second Stage

Doors Open: 8:30

Hyperbella is an intergalactic neo-soul band from Phoenix, AZ. Composed of artists Cassidy Hilgers and Carly Bates, Hyperbella draws influence from Hiatus Kaiyote, Esperanza Spalding, Little Dragon, Lianne La Havas, and Radiohead, fusing complex harmonies with polyrhythmic textures and alternative jazz improvisation. They seek to capture relatable images and experiences within their lyrics and blend equal parts ethereal sounds with intense build-ups and breakdowns.

Introducing Octobr, a rising solo artist whose music is both a journey and a destination. Born in October, their name reflects the season of change—a fitting metaphor for their introspective and transformative sound. Octobr first captivated audiences with a sold-out performance at The Grove, opening for British pop sensation Pixie Lott, then ignited a full crowd at an intimate Hotel Cafe show in September – so coming back to Hotel Cafe to start 2025 felt like a no-brainer.
For Octobr, music is a lifeline—a way to heal, connect, and inspire. With roots in songwriting from the age of 8 and a passion for producing that began at 18, Octobr brings a wealth of experience and emotion to the stage. Often compared to iconic artists like Sade and Solange, Octobr crafts music for those who feel deeply, think profoundly, and hope endlessly. Their work is a celebration of self-knowledge as a pathway to understanding others, and their ultimate goal is to help people feel more and move more. They will be releasing their debut EP in 2025.

Incessantly existential, Los Angeles-based Elyp is the dyslexic, brooding underbelly of an otherwise making face. Her music processes self-suppression and self-loathing by merging vintage and futuristic jazz sentiments. Elyp’s music sounds akin to Sylvan Esso and Kimbra with vocal stylings similar to Fiona Apple.
