Midnight Dive is the artist name of Cheyanne Sawyer, a 21-year-old, African-American, Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter. She is a recent graduate from the University of Southern California with a minor in Songwriting, and an incoming J.D. Candidate at USC’s Gould School of Law. Midnight Dive’s genre is a mix of bedroom pop, singer/songwriter, and soft indie, and she physically records all of her tracks in my college dorm room, solely utilizing Logic Pro and her guitar. Her debut single, “Vetta (demo),” and her second single, “Where did all my friends go? (demo),” were both released in May. Both songs contain melancholy lyrics about isolation, overlayed by a soft melody and reverb-heavy instrumental mixes. Midnight Dive holds onto her South Bay roots with her beachy vibes and laid-back tunes.
