You Are Always Live is a monthly interactive live event designed to bring people together, enjoy a night of music as well as celebrate the artist behind the songs.

Born and raised in Kenya, Jason Sibi-Okumu is a soulful singer songwriter, whose timeless melodies and expressive lyrics captivate his audience. Exposed to a wide range of music, Jason’s early influences included Eric Wainaina, Michael Jackson, Queen, Sam Cooke, The Beatles and Bob Dylan.

Diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Failure at the age of fifteen, Jason turned to songwriting as a way to process the experience. It was also around that time that he discovered the music of John Mayer who quickly became his primary songwriting influence. After two years of dialysis, Jason had a successful kidney transplant in 2007. Sibi-Okumu credits the experience for adding depth, purpose and identity to his songwriting.

After graduating from high school in 2008, Jason received a partial scholarship to Berklee College of Music as part of their African Scholars Program, and in August of 2010 he left Nairobi for Boston to pursue a songwriting program. While at Berklee Jason steadily earned the respect of both students and faculty. Sibi-Okumu was awarded the Pat Pattison Award in 2014 in recognition of outstanding musicianship in the Songwriting Department.

Part of the graduating class of 2015, Jason was chosen to give the commencement address as student speaker.

In September 2019, he made the move to Los Angeles, to further develop his skills as a performer and songwriter.

His debut album “It’s Only Rain” is set to drop in the summer of 2024.

“I believe that the mark of true success is joy and as a result, I want my life to represent two basic ideas: The first, is that not only is true happiness attainable, it is sustainable and the second is no matter who you are or where you come from, you can be, do or have anything you want” ~ Jason Sibi-Okumu

For almost two years, singer-songwriter Victoria Canal used her gift primarily as a way to process grief. The result of this transformative period was 2022’s Elegy EP, a bittersweet collection of tracks including “swan song,” hailed by Coldplay’s Chris Martin as “one of the best songs ever written.” Now, after experiencing creative and emotional catharsis, Canal is turning the camera back on herself and zooming in further than ever before. Grown from heartache and made with unabashed honesty, WELL WELL finds the artist at her most vulnerable—and her most courageous.

This EP marks an expansion for Canal, not just thematically, but also with regard to collaborators. Working with the likes of Sean Carey, Madison Cunningham, Tony Berg and Jacob Collier helped push the musician creatively in a way she’s never experienced before. “In past projects I’ve been on my own or working with my buddies, which is amazing,” she remarks, “But this time I got to work with some of my heroes while also holding my own in the studio.” The artist attributes WELL WELL’s cohesive sound to her clear vision and the fact that everything was mixed at Sound City by veteran engineer Joseph Lorge (Blake Mills, Perfume Genius, Jon Batiste).
